The Troy Middle School Media Centers are launching Troybery Madness 2018! We are continuing our new format that we launched last year for our Troybery reading program, now in its 18th year. We have a field of 30 potential Troybery books, nominated by Troy students, teachers, and librarians—students will help us narrow down to the top ten through voting each week during March is Reading month. Books will be in competition just like the NCAA March Madness tournament, except that we will stop at the Elite 8 and do a vote for 2 wildcard spots to make it ten total. In order to vote, students will need to read at least 3 books out of the 30. Students have until Feb. 28 to fill in their brackets, so now is the time to really start reading!!! On the Media Center Schoology Group in the Discussion section, there is a place to submit the completed bracket. Even if students have not read all 30 books, they can still try to guess which books are going to win! Our ultimate goal is to get kids excited about and interested in reading. We are proud that our program involves so much student voice in the creating of the list and choosing which books are the best! The voting starts March 1, so make sure your child has read at least 3 from this list in order to participate! Students who have a perfect bracket will be in a drawing for a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble. We will also give prizes to CLASSES who have perfect brackets.
Once we have narrowed it down to the top ten by March 16, students will have time to read those titles in order to vote for the final Troybery winner on April 11-12. The Troybery Award winner will be announced live on April 27, 2018, at our annual ceremony.
