We are gearing up for the Scholastic Book Fair to be held at Smith Middle School in the Media Center on November 11-15, 2013. As your official "Book Fair-oh," Mrs. Chatel would like to welcome you to our Reading Oasis! At our Ancient Egyptian-themed fair, you will find many fantastic reads for your son or daughter. Please visit the fair during Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 13! We will be open until 4 pm. Can't make it to our fair? Don't worry--shop our online bookfair today through November 22! Your purchases will arrive at school well before Winter Break. As a fundraiser during the book fair, we will be having a Penny War! Students can bring silver coins (i.e. nickels, dimes, and quarters) to put in their grade's jar and pennies to put in the other grades' jars. When students make a purchase at the fair, they will be entered into a drawing. 2 students will be chosen from the winning grade and will be able to choose a teacher to "mummify"! 7th grade Global Studies students at Smith have created Egyptian cartouches with messages about reading. Mrs. Ostrowski's students have created wonderful pyramid and date palm tree decorations to complete our oasis!
