The Scholastic Book Fair will be coming to Smith's Media Center on December 1-5. With the theme of Sir Readalot's Castle, our library will be transformed into a "Kingdom of Books" with decorations from Smith as well as Troy High National Art Honor Society students. Your child will be receiving a parent letter soon and a sneak peek pamphlet about the hot items at the book fair. Or, you can preview the letter here. Check the schedule to see which day your child will be attending the fair. BRAND NEW THIS YEAR: Load the book fair app on your phone or on your child's device! This free app will give you access to videos and podcasts about the books that will be at the fair, along with summaries, AR reading levels, and prices. Shop the fair with your child before you go! We are having a special Parent Shopping Event after school on December 4 from 3-4 pm. Please stop by the Media Center to have some treats made for you by the Life Skills classes and get your holiday shopping started early! Students will be able to create a wish list when they visit the fair with their classes to bring home to you. Can't make it to our fair? Don't worry--shop our online bookfair November 26 - December 6! Shipping is free, and your purchases will arrive at school before Winter Break in time to give as holiday gifts. We all remember the "Book Fair-oh" from last year... The big question is this: What will Mrs. Chatel's costumes be this year?!? Come to our fair to find out! I would like to give a giant THANK YOU for your support of our book fair! From parents to BPMS staff and students, there were so many people who made this fair possible. First of all, Mrs. Levitt and her seventh grade students made wonderful projects about ancient kings and queens to display at the front of the media center. Troy High National Art Honor Society students transformed the inside of the media center into Sir Readalot's castle with their stunning artwork. Parent volunteers helped to set up and take down the fair, as well as work the cash registers. Classes came to visit the media center each day, anticipating which costume Mrs. Chatel would wear next! Overall, our book fair was a great success--sales increased by 20% from last year! The monies raised from the book fair will fund the annual Troybery Awards and help to purchase great books for our media center. Thank you for supporting the Boulan Park Media Center!Inspired by the Scholastic Book Fair's medieval theme of "Sir Readalot's Castle," this list of former Troybery nominees and winners will take your child on adventures filled with knights, castles, kings and queens, wizards, spells, and fairy-tale creatures!
