Library Lover's MonthThe Boulan Park Media Center celebrated February is Library Lover's month with decorations, bookmarks, and a fun contest. On February 25, students had a chance to "Go on a Blind Date with a Library Book." All month, students entered the drawing to be chosen to check out one of the mystery books. Mrs. Chatel took books that Boulan Park staff and students love and wrapped them up with the help of her lunch volunteers. Only 42 lucky students were chosen to participate, and each hour, Mrs. Chatel called students to the media center over the PA. March is Reading MonthDuring the month of March, students will "Drop Everything And Read" (DEAR) one day each week during a specified subject area. Students must have a book to read silently. Please check the weekly calendar for dates. In addition, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, a "mystery reader" will read a portion of a book over announcements. Third hour classes will try to guess who the reader is and what the book is, with a prize for the classroom winner! The media center will also be doing a display called "Show Us Your Shelfie." Students are encouraged to take "selfies" with a book or stack of books that they love. These photos can be submitted to Mrs. Chatel's email or taken by Mrs. Chatel in the media center. The photos will be displayed in the media center for everyone to see and to get book recommendations. Please encourage your child to participate in this celebration of reading. Finally, Boulan staff members will have special tickets to give to students that they "catch" reading during the month of March. Tickets should be brought to the media center. These students will be entered in the "Caught You Reading" drawing for prizes at the end of the month.
